The optician ” Lapaire ” commemorated this Tuesday, March 28, 2023 its 5 years of existence in Africa. The event was celebrated in Vêdoko, (Cotonou) in the very first agency of ”Lapaire” in Benin.
5 years already that the pan-African start-up ”Lapaire” has revolutionized the eyewear market in Africa. On March 28, 2018 in Kenya, Swiss entrepreneur Jérôme Lapaire pledged to improve the quality of sight of Africans. Its concept: to offer free eye tests and glasses at affordable prices.
According to the Director of Operations of ”Lapaire Benin”, Raphaël Honyiglo, recent research reveals that by 2050, half of the world’s population will suffer from myopia. “In Africa only 1% of people who need glasses wear them, so we can say that there is a huge need to be filled. Indeed, eye care and equipment are difficult to access for the vast majority of the population. However, poor vision can have disastrous consequences on the health and well-being of people on a daily basis. he explained.
In 5 years, ”Lapaire” has recorded great successes thanks to its concept and its products. She tested the sight of 210,000 people and more than 130,000 gained in quality of life. Every day, ”Lapaire” delivers 400 pairs of glasses to customers. “We are happy to celebrate our 5 years of existence in Africa in the very first ”Lapaire” agency in Benin”rejoiced the Director of Operations of ”Lapaire Benin”.
