Ajaccio – Autonomy supporters of the French Mediterranean island of Corsica have sharply criticized a ruling banning the Corsican language during debates in the island’s regional parliament. “This decision amounts to depriving Corsican MPs of the right to speak their language during debates,” said the President of the island’s Executive Council, Gilles Simeoni, and the President of the Regional Parliament, Marie-Antoinette Maupertuis, on Friday.
