McLarens racer Lando Norris admits he is worried that Max Verstappen’s dominance in Formula 1 will make fans bored and stop watching the sport.
“It’s frustrating for people watching, but it’s always like this. We’re seeing more domination than ever, so it’s never going to be the best to watch and the only interesting races are the ones that Max isn’t in.” Norris quoted CrashTuesday (23/4).
“If you see the same drivers winning every time without a fight, of course it will become boring and that’s clear,” he added.
The three-time consecutive world champion from the Red Bull team achieved another dominant victory at the Chinese GP. After previously also easily winning the sprint race even though he only finished fourth.
This is Verstappen’s 38th win in 49 races since the new regulations were introduced in 2022, and his 23rd win in the last 27 grands prix.
Norris said that Redbull is filled with intelligent people in car development, coupled with the quality of qualified racers. This, of course, ultimately makes them always dominate F1 races.

“You hope the teams level off and we start to get there, but at the same time suddenly jumping up and chasing them (Red Bull), that’s not going to work,” said Norris
Meanwhile, Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner, dismissed the notion that Verstappen’s dominance was damaging F1. He actually encouraged fans to enjoy the momentum of Red Bull and Verstappen’s current dominance.
“You have to appreciate success. Max is a special talent and this is a golden moment for him,” said Horner.
“As we’ve seen with every driver in the past, it doesn’t last forever. It’s regarding enjoying the moment and being in the moment and there’s no guarantee we can give him a car like this for the next five years,” he added. (Crash/Z-6)
