Lando Norris “Game over if you remove the racing line” / F1 Miami GP[F1-Gate .com]

Lando Norris of the McLaren F1 says it’s “game over” at the Miami International Autodrome if it’s off the racing line.

On Friday, the 2022 F1 Round 5 F1 Miami GP was free-running, and the F1 car ran for the first time on the new Miami street circuit. In the two sessions, Valtteri Bottas (Alfa Romeo) and Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) crashed into the barrier, with several drivers spinning.

Friday’s asphalt was still very new, and F1 drivers used practice sessions to pave rubber to create a more grippy road surface, but Lando had few grips to allow the driver to fight off the racing line. Norris says.

“The road is also very tricky. If you go off the line everywhere, it’s almost game over. You spin and hit the wall,” Lando Norris said.

“I’m punished. That’s why I’ve seen so many people reach the wall.”

“It’s a little weird. It’s just terrible when I go offline. I hope they do a little better. I don’t know what to do.”

“If they clean the truck, it helps. There were a lot of marbles on Friday morning and the game was over as soon as I went offline.”

Lando Norris admits that Miami’s bumpy nature was also a surprise.

“I think everyone expected a very smooth and beautiful circuit, but that’s not the case,” Lando Norris said.

Lando Norris finished his second practice session in 6th place, and in 2022 Mercedes F1, which had been struggling so far, was ahead of McLaren.

“It’s not where we want it, and Mercedes is far ahead of us. They’re the same PU, so it’s our most comparable team.”

“Mercedes is probably one of the best cars in the slow corners throughout the season. No one is looking closely at the GPS and picking it up.”

“So it’s no surprise. It just works harder and makes them want to overtake them again.”

“To be positive, things were going in the right direction. We need to go a little more in the right direction. Let’s see where we are in the end.”
