The police investigated a 16-year-old from Graz and a 17-year-old as suspected perpetrators, the Graz public prosecutor confirmed on Friday. The teenagers had been on the run since Wednesday, and a European arrest warrant was sought for them.

At a gas station in Croatia, the two were now caught by the police. “Now the Croatian authorities have to decide on extradition,” said Hansjörg Bacher, spokesman for the Graz public prosecutor’s office. Usually, a translation of the arrest warrant is requested first, the prosecutor explained the procedure.

As reported, the two young people had not paid a bill of around 50 euros and left the restaurant. When the owner took up the chase on foot, the two cheerleaders got into a car that was parked in Langgasse. When the 41-year-old stood in front of the white SUV, the 16-year-old stepped on the gas pedal. The local owner was taken to the hospital with serious internal injuries to the pelvis and upper body. She is in the Kepler Clinic in Linz in the intensive care unit, but is now out of danger.

The suspects were found out regarding the license plate number, the car belongs to the mother of the 16-year-old.
