The Salzburg State Theater moves into a circus tent. Because the house on Makartplatz will be renovated in the summer, the performances will take place at the Salzburg exhibition center in an alternative quarter, a large circus tent, from May. There are four pieces on the schedule.
The motto is “Summer Theater Circus”. From May 7th, the ensemble of the Landestheater will be performing in the circus tent on the exhibition grounds. A total of 30 opera, theater and musical performances are on the programme.
But since the trade fair is also planning major events once more, those involved would have to coordinate well so that parking spaces and parking spaces can be divided between the trade fair and the state theater, says the managing director of Messe Salzburg, Alexander Kribus. “Thank God we have the Dult on our premises once more this year, which of course requires a lot of space. So it was a planning challenge to find the best way for both of them.”
Landestheater is renovated by 13 million euros
Because the State Theater is being renovated and modernized for more than 13 million euros, an alternative quarter was necessary. In May and June there are performances in the circus tent, in the summer there is a break, and at the start of the season in autumn they move to the Felsenreitschule in the festival district. The opening gala in the renovated State Theater is planned for November 12th.
