Lamote wins world minima, Jackson and Kerly mark their territory

Clinging to the stride of Olympic champion Athing Mu, Rénelle Lamote finished second in the 800 meters at the Diamond League meeting in Rome with the world minima in her pocket (1’58”48). Untouchable, Mu won in 1’57”01, signing the best world performance of the year. Behind, Lamote finished a little more in the hard but resisted the rest of the pack to sign a new podium in the Diamond League this season after Birmingham and Rabat on Sunday. Especially in 1’58”48, the French signed the minimum (1’59”30) for the Eugene Worlds (July 15-24). Eliminated in the semi-finals of the last Olympics, the athlete trained by Bruno Gajer intends to reach a world final this season. Dominating in Rabat despite a sore shoulder, Thompson-Herah had the best start before seeing Shericka Jackson lay down her law.
