In his hit, bestselling memoir, **”Dark Days“**, **Blythe** unflinchingly wrote about some of the most harrowing episodes of his past. Now, in his highly anticipated follow-up, **Blythe** shares how he works daily to maintain positivity in a world that feels like it is spinning out of control. Written with a scathing balance of hard-edged reality offset by a knowing humor and a razor-sharp wit, voiced in his inimitable, conversational, everyman-philosopher style, **Blythe** clearly breaks down his approach to life, which is a personal and idiosyncratic mix of sobriety, art, and surfing. He writes movingly of his childhood in the South, of fallen friends, of what he’s learned touring the world as the vocalist of a successful heavy metal band, and of the very real ways he is doing what he can to leave the world a better place. Above all, he offers readers hope that balance, real balance, is possible, even (or especially) when things seem hopeless.
Compelling, compassionate, and refreshingly honest, **”Just Beyond The Light”** ultimately reminds readers that ‘as long as we keep our feet (and minds) planted firmly on the ground that is reality, the sky isn’t falling — it never has been, and it never will.”
**Blythe** says: “For me, the single most gratifying aspect of being an artist is learning that your work has been useful to others in some way. I’ve been told by lots of readers that my last book, **’Dark Days’**, helped them. I hope **’Just Beyond The Light’** does the same.”

What inspired Randy Blythe to write “Just Beyond the Light: Making Peace With the Wars Inside Our Head”?
Today we are joined by Randy Blythe, frontman of the legendary metal band Lamb of God. Randy, congrats on your upcoming book, ”Just Beyond the Light: Making Peace With the Wars Inside Our Head”. Can you tell us a little bit about it and what inspired you to write it?
**Randy Blythe:** Thanks for having me. The book is a collection of my thoughts and experiences on navigating life’s challenges and finding inner peace. It’s a roadmap, I guess you could say, for trying to maintain a healthy perspective, even when things get tough.
A lot of people might be surprised to know that beneath the aggressive music, there’s a very introspective side to you. What led you to explore these themes in such a personal way?
**Randy Blythe:** Well, I’ve always been interested in philosophy and spirituality, and my life experiences, both good and bad, have shaped my views. I’ve learned a lot through the years about myself and about the human condition, and I hope this book can offer some insights and maybe even some comfort to others who are struggling.
You’re also hitting the road for some spoken word events. What can fans expect from those?
**Randy Blythe:** It’ll be a chance to delve a bit deeper into some of the themes in the book, share some stories, and hopefully have a good conversation with the audience. Every ticket also includes a copy of the book, and we’ll have a book signing at the end.
That’s fantastic. We’ll be sure to include all the dates and locations in the show notes for our listeners. Thanks for taking the time to chat with us today, Randy.
**Randy Blythe:** My pleasure. Thanks for having me.
