The Los Angeles Lakers reportedly added veteran depth to their frontcourt on Friday.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported the Lakers signed veteran center Harry Giles to a two-way contract.

Giles hadn’t appeared in an NBA game since 2021 before signing with the Brooklyn Nets in September. He appeared in 16 games for the Nets, averaging 3.4 points and 1.6 rebounds in 5.1 minutes per contest.

He’ll provide the team depth at center while Christian Wood (knee) and two-way center Colin Castleton (wrist) nurse injuries.

Giles was once the top-ranked high school player in the nation. He played 26 games for Duke in 2016–17, was a first-round pick in ’17 and spent two seasons with the Sacramento Kings. He appeared in 38 games for the Portland Trail Blazers in 2020–21 and had been working his way back to the league ever since.

The Lakers (33–28) return to the court Saturday to host the defending champion Denver Nuggets at Crypto.com Arena.
