The Lahore High Court reserved its decision on the petition against the shutdown of the internet across the country, while the court remarked that it is a public interest petition and appropriate orders will be issued on it.

Justice Shakeel Ahmed of Lahore High Court heard the petition filed by citizen Nadeem Sarwar for complete restoration of internet across the country.

At the beginning of the hearing, the court adjourned the hearing by ordering the lawyer of the federal government to appear at 12 noon after taking instructions from the relevant authorities.

After the break, the hearing started again, then the court remarked that whether the PTA can decide to shut down the internet on its own or does it need the permission of the federal government?

The counsel for the federal government told the court that no notification has been issued for internet shutdown, PTA is the original party in the case, time should be given to file a detailed reply to the petition.

The public prosecutor requested that the PTA should find out why the internet speed is slow.

The court assured that this is a matter of public interest and it is a sign of your seriousness that you do not have adequate information, the court will issue appropriate orders on this matter.
