Lahore: Court orders police to recover ‘missing’ YouTuber

Lahore High Court has on Friday ordered the CCPO Lahore to produce the allegedly missing comedian YouTuber Aoon Ali Khosa in court by August 20.

Aoun, a YouTube satirist, was abducted from his home by unidentified gunmen on the intervening night of August 14 and 15, according to his brother Ali Sher Khosa.

In a message on X on August 15, Ali wrote: ‘Tonight my brother Aun Ali Khosa was abducted from his flat in Lahore by some unknown armed men. Please pray for him and spread our message.’

Aun’s wife Benish had filed a petition in the Lahore High Court against Aoun’s alleged disappearance.

Advocate Khadija Siddiqui, the petitioner’s lawyer, pleaded with the court that Aoun is a digital content creator who was abducted from his home by unknown persons, the court should order his recovery.

Before his disappearance, Aoun reportedly uploaded a humorous song ‘Bul Bil Pakistan’ to his YouTube channel, in which he criticized the government citing rising electricity bills and taxes. However, now this video of his is not available on his social media accounts.

After Aoun’s alleged disappearance, his video ‘Bul Bil Pakistan’ and Aoun Khosa started trending on X.

X user Syed Shafaat Ali wrote: ‘Aun Khosa should be released. He is an artist who puts a smile on many people’s faces with his humor. Disagreement with their political views cannot be used as a reason for their arrest. Laughter never hurt anyone, release Aun Khosa immediately.’

An X user named Afsana Malika expressed her opinion and wrote: ‘Truth is powerful like Aun Khosa and ‘Bul Bil Pakistan’. But now they have been removed from the scene without leaving a trace. This is a violation of basic human rights. We want answers.’

X user Fatima Ali said that Aun Khosa’s video ‘Bul Bil Pakistan’ has mysteriously disappeared from his Instagram account. This is a clear sign of who is behind their illegal abduction.
