Ladji Yoro, our man of the year

C’is a choice of the heart. The man of the year 2022, for the writing of your newspaper, is awarded to Ladji Yoro. We had to wait more than a year following his death to pay him this tribute, at a time when the country is in the process of recruiting 50,000 VDPs to support the army. Do not we say that it is never too late to do well? Soumaïla Ganamé represents for us, the resistance of the Burkinabè in the face of the oppression of terrorism.

This Volunteer for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) was killed in a terrorist ambush, along with 3 other of his comrades, on December 23, 2021. A little earlier, that year, he had been crowned Ambassador for Peace (APA ) for his contribution to the promotion of peace and tranquility in Burkina Faso. A prize that crowns his fight once morest terrorism. His prowess was told in many families in Burkina and united the country in the grip of tensions.

From these stories heard, many of our young people have joined the VDPs, in order to fight once morest terrorism. The successes, the sweat and the sacrifices made by Ladji Yoro strengthened the VDPs and fertilized the courage of the youth, who swelled the ranks of volunteers. This may be one of the reasons why the forces of evil are bent on him, just to discourage enlistments to become VDP. If Yoro is gone, the cause for which he died continues to bear fruit. The Loroum VDPs have certainly lost their leader, but not their courage.

Like their leader, it is now their own stories that motivate young Burkinabè. 50,000 are in training to become VDP and continue the work started by Yoro. In each village now, Burkina will be able to count on a Yoro to fight once morest terrorism. By giving his life for his country, Ladji Yoro brought us together for the cause “Le Faso d’abord”. A way of life for eternity in the hearts of the Burkinabè. Happy New Year 2023 to all and that just like Thomas Sankara before him, we said with Ladji Yoro, “homeland or death, we will win”.
