My management approached me about this opportunity, and I instantly said yes. It was a dream come true – a privilege to be a part of such a legendary song and experience.”

This collaboration led to a long-awaited meeting. “Later on, I traveled to Los Angeles when they were filming the music video,” Scabbia reveals, “That’s when we finally met face-to-face for the very first time. It was a surreal experience. The video shoot spanned two days – the band filmed their performance on the first, and I joined them on the second day for my own segments.”

Sharing her first encounter with Dave Mustaine, Scabbia admits, “Meeting Dave was an unexpected mix of excitement and apprehension.I had heard so many different things about him, so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. You can work and still smile, you know, and be relaxed,” she shared.

So I went to the place where they were filming, and I started to talk to Dave [Mustaine], and he was super cool, super kind. And then we went on tour a couple of times together.”

Despite her adoration for the track, Scabbia admitted a healthy dose of apprehension stemmed from the various perceptions surrounding Dave Mustaine.”It was so crazy, especially because I didn’t know what to expect because many people left different ideas of Dave. So I was just, like, ‘Oh my God.’ I was almost afraid to meet him. But he was a sweetheart, super gentle.I remember the first day on tour with him, he left a bottle of champagne with a note, ‘Thank you for being on tour with us.’ He was super, super nice,” she shared.

Their musical connection was undeniable, but even kindred spirits can experience occasional clashes. “I remember that he only got pissed with me once,” Scabbia chuckled. “It was after one of the gigs; he threw a party – I think it was a margarita party, something like this – for all the group, all the tour, all the bands. He just wanted to create an event that would bring us all together. And I remember there was metal music blasting. But after a while, I got tired because, I love metal music, but to me, party music is a different type of music sometimes.So I was just like, ‘Okay, let’s change a little. Let’s put some music from the ’70s or some disco music,’ and he just looked at me, like, ‘I’m so pissed.'”
