Denis Lauzon, who left the region in 2016 to become a teacher at the Quebec Fire Protection Institute, says he learned to manage the stress and anxiety that still haunts him a decade following the tragedy.

Like many of his fellow firefighters present the night of the derailment, he had to learn to tame bad memories.
Among the positive aspects that he retains, in addition to the resilience of his community, is this outpouring of solidarity with his brigade, the some 80 fire departments from Quebec and the United States to support them during the weeks that followed the tragic events.
