Labor market: Rush on IT specialists

The IT sector saw 190% growth, in terms of ads served, in April 2022, compared to the same period in 2021.
Experienced profiles are always at the top of recruitment.

The IT sector continues to attract candidates to the job market. According to the latest survey by e-recruitment specialist Rekrute, the sector was the largest employer during the month of April in 2022, accounting for a third of all offers posted on the market. Having recorded only 11% in April 2021, the volume of ads in this sector tripled in April 2022, reflecting its increased dynamism. The banking sector, on the other hand, increased its demand by 140%, recording 12% of all offers broadcast in April 2022, while it only recorded 5% during the same period in 2021.

According to the job board, the job offers concerned several functions. The IT/Electronics professions come first and represented 37% of the most requested functions, thus marking a growth of 147%. They are followed by the call center businesses. The Management/Accounting/Finance and Banking functions doubled their demand compared to April 2021 and shared the 3e position, with 5% of all demand, in April 2022.

Telecoms/Networks lost their place in the ranking of professions in high demand, while this function was positioned 5e in April 2021. The top 3, on the other hand, remained unchanged, between April 2021 and April 2022.

Bac+5 still in demand

By level of studies, the survey shows that the Bac+5 represent 30% of the total demand of the labor market. The demand for these profiles has doubled. Recruiters rely significantly on experienced executives to manage the country’s economic recovery.

The baccalaureate level is ranked third, with 15% of all the most requested study levels.

In April 2022, recruiters mostly prefer candidates with between 1 and 3 years of experience. The demand for this category increased 6 times compared to the same period in 2021, at the expense of beginners which represented only 30% in April 2022, while they represented 60% during the same period in 2021. The category from 3 to 5 years old, meanwhile, reinforced its presence by doubling its demand.

Computer/Electrical, Project Management, HR and Training functions in high demand

In April 2022, the IT sector grew by 11%, going from 654 open positions in April 2021 to 726 open positions in April 2022. The IT/Electrical, Project Management, HR and Training functions are in high demand in this sector. The IT/Electronics function, for its part, dominates the ranking with 91% of open positions in April 2022. A domination noted for the 2e consecutive year during the same period. What stood out last month was the presence of the project management and research and development professions, which were ranked second. The HR function is always placed in 3e position, as in April 2021. Also during the same period, recruiters are still looking for mature IT profiles (3 to 5 years 34%, 5 to 10 years 29%). However, they also showed particular interest in candidates with 1 to 3 years of experience (22% in April 2022 against 13% in April 2021), to the detriment of beginners who only represent 12%.

As for the level of education, the IT sector is relying more and more on qualified executives. 79% of the profiles requested in April must have a Bac+5 level. Remember that the call center sector remains dynamic in the labor market. Last year it recorded a growth of 13%, going from 50,883 open positions in 2020 to 57,360 in 2021. A sector which also calls on computer scientist profiles. and seeks above all experienced profiles (3 to 5 years of experience), to the detriment of beginners.
