[LABO] The NZXT Z690 N5 and N7

Today at 5 p.m. the end of the NDA concerning the new motherboards of the NZXT brand and built around the last chipset from Intel, the Z690. We have received a copy of the Z690 N7 and the Z690 N5 within the editorial staff. NZXT is a brand that we have had the chance to review for a while, in particular with the tests of the NZXT N7 Z590 and the NZXT N7 B550.

La NZXT N7 690 :

This model is therefore structured around the new chipset from Intel, the Z690. This exchange motherboard has the socket LGA-1700 to accommodate Alder Lake processors. This new card remains of course in the “NZXT” spirit with a black and white variation associated with an armor that conceals a large part of the PCB.

The card has four memory slots for DDR4 4800 MT/s (OC+). It’s a shame not to find support for DDR5 on this “top of the range” model that the N7 represents. the chipset Z690 officially supports PCIe 5.0 offering higher storage performance than the previous generation. However, currently, no component is yet compatible with this standard.

Finally, be aware that the fairing conceals three slots for M2 type SSD drives in 4.0. The advertised price is $299.99.

La NZXT N5 690 :

This second card differs from the N7 model mainly by the absence of a fairing which covers the PCB. We are here, which is more logical, still on compatibility with DDR4. This will allow future buyers to be able to keep their memory kit. This N5 supports DDR4 5000 MT/s (OC+) kits, which on paper is better than the N7.

In terms of storage, we are here on three M.2 4.0 SSD slots and one slot wired in 3.0. As for the N7 version, the format of this motherboard is ATX with a price announced by the brand of $239.99.

Its main competitors are the MSI PRO Z690-A WiFi, Asus Prime Z690-P and the Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X. See you in a few days to discover the complete test of these two new motherboards from the NZXT brand.
