Rocío Jurado threw the house out the window at her wedding to José Ortega Cano in La Yerbabuena. But her health problems overtook her and they changed her ‘road map’. The same different destiny that the entire family of the oldest had, also suffered La Yerbabuena fifteen years following her death.

From Montealto to La Yerbabuena following the death of Rocío Jurado

On June 1, pancreatic cancer defeated Rocío Jurado. Her husband, José Ortega Cano, then settled in La Yerbabuena with her two young children, until in 2013 he decided to sell it for 5.5 million euros. That year, he entered prison and became the father of her first child together with Ana María Aldón. The sale of that farm would thus alleviate the darkest years of the former right-hander, marked by having caused the death of Carlos Parra on May 28, 2011 when driving under the influence of alcohol. Ortega Cano was sentenced to two years and six months in prison for a crime of reckless homicide and reckless driving, of which he served a year and a half, following which he received the third degree.

From a place of legend to an event farm

In August 2013, La Yerbabuena passed into the hands of the Peruvian businesswoman and rancher Rocío Torres Carcasi, who decided to exploit the hacienda as a space for organizing events, open to the public, with guided tours and other activities, although the main activity is the celebration of weddings

Plaza de tentas, hermitage and lake with a small island

La Yerbabuena has 800 hectares of land with a tent market, a hermitage, located on the Cerro del Olivar and where Rocío and Ortega got married; and an island with a small island included. Most of its extensive territory is still used for cattle. Currently, the farm has a stud farm of Anglo-Arab horses and is dedicated to breeding bulls.
