La Palmosa Hospital mobilized last week during an operation called “Blue March” intended to provide information on colorectal cancer screening. Two events took place. A first, in Breil-sur-Roya, around prevention of colorectal cancer screening, was held on Monday March 11. The second, around the promotion of colorectal cancer screening, was held on Monday March 14 at the La Palmosa Hospital Center.
The CRDC (Regional Screening Coordination Center) Sud Paca, the territorial health professional community (CPTS) of the French Riviera and the Alpes-Maritimes Cancer League were present. “In total, more than 70 people were able to find out regarding cancer screening, the Hospital team noted. We rely on our professionals and users to share good practice with those around them..”
The right actions to adopt
Are you aged 50 to 74? Man or woman, you must have received a letter, sent every two years, to carry out a test. Free and to be done at home, the kit necessary for screening can be collected online at (or in a pharmacy or by appointment with your general practitioner. “The Kit consists of a self-test for stool sampling, system biodegradable collection to stick on the toilet bowl + rod for sampling. The sample must be put back in the tube then in the envelope provided, already stamped, to be returned by post”, indicates the La Palmosa hospital.
47,000 people affected each year
Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers in France and affects men and women equally. 47,000 people are affected each year, “or nearly 130 cases diagnosed per day”, indicates the League once morest Cancer. Regular screening and monitoring of people presenting personal or family risks allows us to act in time. Detected in advance, precancerous lesions are removed before they turn into cancer. Information brochures are available in the entrance hall of Building B of CH La Palmosa in Menton and in the waiting rooms.
