Barcelona: Barcelona have been left out of the squad despite the acquisition of striker Ferran Torres. Barcelona will be hit hard by La Liga’s financial control. Barcelona have signed Ferran Torres from Manchester City for 55 million amid a severe financial crisis.
Sergio Aguero’s premature retirement, Memphis Dieppe discoloration and injury to Ansu Fatty have all contributed to Barcelona’s acquisition of Torres. Twenty-one-year-old Torres arrived in Manchester City from Valencia in 2020. He has scored 16 goals in 43 games for the Premier League champions.
Despite presenting Torres at the Camp Nou, Barcelona have yet to register the player in La Liga. In La Liga there is a limit to the amount each team can spend per season. Therefore, Barcelona can only include Torres in the squad if they exclude some of the highest paid players in the squad.
Barcelona will be looking to remove Filipe Coutinho, Samuel Eto’o, Sergino Dest, Luke de Jong and Youssef Demir in January. But the crisis was that no one came forward for these players. In addition, Frenchman Osman Dembele’s unwillingness to reduce his salary was a setback for Barcelona.
