(CNN) — Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger has become the latest victim of racist abuse in La Liga.

After the “Al-Merengue” victory over Cadiz by a double, on Saturday, fans were heard hurling racist insults at Antonio Rudiger, in a video clip posted on social media.

The German international, who is black, approached the stands at the “Nuevo Mirandela” stadium in Cadiz, to give someone his shirt, before fans threw projectiles in his direction.

As he walked away, Rudiger turned and pointed at a fan, before being accompanied by two people who appeared to be members of the Real Madrid team.

Antonio Rudiger did not comment on the incident, but said on Instagram after the match: “He deserved to win away.”

CNN has reached out to Cádiz and its counterpart, Real Madrid, for comment.

La Liga has yet to comment on the incident, but previously told CNN it had no authority to sanction fans or clubs for cases of racial abuse.

Incidents of racist abuse marred La Liga matches on several occasions this season, as Rudiger’s teammate, Vinicius Junior, was targeted during clashes with Atletico Madrid, Real Valladolid, Real Mallorca and Osasuna.

Last month, La Liga filed a complaint with the Barcelona court after Vinicius was subjected to racist abuse during El Clasico at the Spotify Camp Nou.

In March, La Liga presented details of 12 separate cases of racist abuse of black footballers dating back to January 2020, which it passed on to local authorities, 4 of which were archived without penalty, in some cases. Because there are no offenders.
