The 18 days of La Bâtie-Festival de Genève attracted more than 26,000 spectators, an attendance similar to that of last year. The organizers welcomed the enthusiasm of a “diverse” audience on Sunday.
In total, 70 multidisciplinary components for nearly 160 performances took place in nearly 60 sites in 31 municipalities in Geneva, neighboring France and Vaud. About twenty were shown for the first time.
Among the highlights, the organizers are highlighting the shows by Miet Warlop (One Song) and Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker and Jean-Guihen Queyras (Mitten wir im Leben sind/Bach6Cellosuiten) who “ignited” the Comédie de Genève. The two devices by choreographer Trajal Harrell were also successful. A receptacle for social themes, the festival also hosted “A Noiva eo Boa Noite Cinderela”, a work which directly addresses rape and femicide.
Lebanon, for its part, was supported by a group of six artists, including the very noted Ali Charhour and Hashem Hashem. Among the French-speaking offerings, the public responded enthusiastically to the shows by Davide-Christelle Sanvee, Baptiste Cazaux and Maud Blandel.

A varied program
Territorial projects have once once more been at the center of La Bâtie. On the music side, the festival once once more delighted the public with numerous concerts. Among the many artists, the public was able to (re)discover the R’n’B singer Sabrina Bellaouel, the Vaud rapper and singer Nathalie Froehlich, or even Cakes da Killa, “icon of rap and the black homosexual community” , to use the description given by La Bâtie.
The organizers also welcome an expansion to new municipalities both in France and in Switzerland. The next edition will take place from August 29 to September 15, 2024.
