Kyrie Irving’s Historic Triple-Double in Drew League: Uncle Drew Shines Again

Last night Kyrie Irving put some shine on a usually inauspicious period in the NBA light. Last night Kyrie Irving took part in a Drew League match, and he particularly shone there. At the same time, we are still talking regarding… Uncle Drew.

Ah the Drew League, essential breathing in the heart of suffocating summers during which an NBA fan is deprived of his drug. We play a little basketball there, the pressure of everyday life is not present there but the thrills linked to our favorite sport are, especially when little known faces show the tip of their noses.

By the way, what is the Drew League? A summer competition therefore, taking place every summer in Los Angeles since 1973. A quick calculation, so this year we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the said tournament.

Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, DeMar DeRozan, James Harden, Paul Pierce, Chris Paul, Trae Young, many stars have tried their hand at this semi-pro circuit, mainly to keep in shape, and/or spend time with their crew, and this year it is therefore the name of a hell of a number that ended up on the floor yesterday in the jersey of the Nationwilde Souljas. The name can’t be invented, and this man is Kyrie Irving, leader of the Dallas Mavericks and known both for being one of (the?) best dribblers in history and one of his best leaders in general, also known for having taken the habit of confusing public opinion with positions, declarations or behaviors… very specific to him.

However, last night, on the Drew League floor, Mr. Kyrie – Uncle Drew by his name “Pepsi” – entertained the public and even dropped an unprecedented stat by becoming the first player in history to land a triple-double in the Drew League. 23 points, 13 rebounds, 11 assists, because when Kyrie plays, something always happens.

Send the highlights, it feels good on Sunday morning, it refreshes a little in the middle of summer. Uncle Drew League time!
