French football expert Julien Lorenz believes striker Kylian Mbappe feels “betrayed” by his Paris Saint-Germain team.
Lorenz indicated that the player may want to leave the team in January.
The French striker signed a new three-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain in May, but now feels he made a “mistake”.
Mbappe, 23, who scored 12 goals in all competitions with his team this season, may prefer to move to Real Madrid.
But Luis Campos, PSG’s sporting director, said the player “never talked regarding leaving” the club in January.
Speaking to the BBC, Lorenz said: “He (Mbappe) feels betrayed by the club, meaning that all the things that the club promised him when he signed that new deal until 2025 did not happen.”
He added that they promised him a new striker so that Mbappe might play in his best position, as well as sell the Brazilian Neymar, in addition to signing a central defender, “but all these things did not happen.”
The French football expert continued: “We knew there were tensions and now Mbappe has made his decision and he doesn’t want to be there. He feels he made a mistake by extending his contract and should have left in the summer, and now he is looking forward to the January transfer window where he can to go “.
Mbappe won the last World Cup in Russia with the France national team, and has won 11 titles with Paris Saint-Germain, including four Ligue 1 titles, since joining from Monaco initially on loan in 2017.
On Friday, the player topped the Forbes list of the highest-earning soccer players, the first time that someone other than Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo had ranked first in the list in nine years.
“It is clear that something has broken between him and the club,” Lorenz added.
He revealed that Real Madrid was ready to sign him in a free transfer deal last summer. And they still have the money to buy it.
And Lorenz asked regarding the club that Mbappe might move to: “Will Chelsea come instead of Real Madrid? Will it be Manchester City? What regarding Manchester United under Eric ten Hag?”
But he made it clear in the end that it depends on which club can afford his transfer and how much Paris Saint-Germain wants from him. Paris Saint-Germain is now in a strong position. He may have to stay until the end of the season and then see what happens in the summer.”
However, speaking before PSG’s Champions League clash with Benfica, Campos denied suggestions that Mbappe is unsettled in Paris.
“I’m with Kylian Mbappe every day,” he told French television channel Canal Plus. “He never spoke to me regarding leaving in January.”
Campos added, “This is not a statement from the player, it is (from the press), and to have such information before a match like this is very dangerous. That is why I am here, to refuse and say clearly that Kylian Mbappe has never spoken to me or to the club president (Nasser Al-Khelaifi). ) regarding leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the beginning of next year.
Campos added, in statements to RMC Sport: “Kilian is an exceptional professional. For example, he played despite feeling sick in the last match in Reims, he made an effort for the team. I see Kilian communicating with his teammates, he is happy every day and with the desire of Great at work.”
