France striker Kylian Mbappe confirmed that he is happy to stay next season with his team, Paris Saint-Germain, indicating that he did not ask to be abandoned or to move to Real Madrid, in an interview with the Italian sports newspaper “La Gazzetta dello Sport” published on Wednesday.

Mbappe (24 years) said during the interview, which was conducted at the French national team training headquarters in Clairefontaine: All I have confirmed is my desire not to activate the renewal clause for an additional year. We have never spoken to PSG regarding extending the contract but I am happy to be here next season.

Mbappe regretted the departure of Argentine star Lionel Messi from the ranks of the French capital team and the move to Inter Miami, and said: He is probably the best player in the history of football. The news is not good when it comes to the departure of a player like Messi, and I do not understand why many people expressed their relief at his departure.

He concluded: We are talking regarding Messi, he must be respected, but otherwise he was not given the respect he deserves in France. It’s unfortunate but that’s the way it is. Something must be done to make up for it.
