Russia has continued its wave of attacks on the Ukrainian capital, Kiev. On Friday night, the Russian army fired a total of 15 cruise missiles and 18 combat drones at Kiev, the Ukrainian military said in the morning. All missiles were intercepted by Ukrainian air defenses.
The head of the Kiev military administration, Serhiy Popko, also spoke of a total of around 30 enemy objects that had been destroyed. Nothing was initially known regarding possible victims, such as falling debris. “There are explosions in the city. The air defenses are working,” said Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko in a statement.
According to Russian information, two communities close to the border in the western Russian region of Bryansk have meanwhile been fired upon by the Ukrainian military. Governor Alexander Bogomas said no one was injured. In the past, Ukraine has stated that it has not launched any attacks on Russian territory. These are due to Russian opponents of the government in Moscow.
Russia, which has been waging a war of aggression once morest Ukraine for more than 15 months, is currently shelling Kiev particularly hard. In May, for example, more rockets, cruise missiles and drones were fired at Kiev within a month than at any time since the beginning of the war. In one of the most recent attacks on Thursday night, several people were killed, including a child.
