KV-Handel: Employers’ offer of a 3.1% salary increase is too low

Vienna (OTS) –

The second round of negotiations for the approximately 430,000 employees and apprentices in retail took place today, November 5th. no result. “The employers’ offer of 3.1% without a single concession in the framework law is simply too low and very disappointing,” said the chief negotiator of the GPA union, Veronika Arnost.

The GPA, for its part, reduced its salary demands in two steps to 4.5% and 4.3% respectively, while maintaining all legal requirements, thereby showing a clear willingness for a constructive process of rapprochement.

“Unfortunately, employers are blocking this process by insisting on their offer. The suggestion of design options such as a combination of a percentage increase and free time was also not addressed,” says Arnost.

“We will inform employees throughout Austria about the status of negotiations at works meetings starting tomorrow. Given the continued high cost of living, such as rents and energy, employees in retail need security that their salaries will rise sustainably. We expect more movement in the next round of negotiations,” said the chairman of the trade sector in the GPA union, Martin Müllauer.

The next, third round of negotiations will take place on November 14th.

what is the best reply when someone ignores you?

It sounds like you’re dealing with a⁣ situation where someone consistently ignores ‍your questions ‌while communicating with you. Here ⁢are a few approaches ⁣you might consider:

1. **Direct Communication**: You could address the behavior directly. For example, you might ⁣say something‍ like, “Hey, I noticed that ‌my questions often get overlooked. Is there⁣ a reason for that?” This encourages an open dialogue.

2. **Ask for Clarification**: If ‌they reply without acknowledging your question, you can gently prompt them by saying, “I appreciate⁢ your response, but I ‍was hoping to get your thoughts on the question I asked earlier.”

3. **Be Honest About Your Feelings**: Sharing how their behavior affects you can sometimes foster better understanding. You could say, “I‍ feel a bit ignored when ⁤my questions aren’t answered,⁣ and I’d like to ⁢have more meaningful conversations with you.”

4. **Timing and Tone**: ‌Ensure you pick an appropriate ⁢moment to ‍have this discussion and maintain a calm, respectful tone ⁤to reduce the risk of defensiveness.

5. **Evaluate the Relationship**: ‍If this behavior continues⁢ despite your attempts to communicate, it may be necessary to reconsider the dynamics of the relationship and whether it’s meeting your needs.

Approaching the person with a mix of honesty and respect can help facilitate better communication in the ‍future.
