Vienna (OTS) – Vienna (OTS). The union vida and the board works council have reached an agreement with the Austrian management for the 3,500 employees of the flying staff. The collectively agreed and actual salaries will be increased by 11 percent retrospectively as of March 1, 2023. “The offer of 8.5% on an annual basis for 2023 has now become 11% including the cost-of-living bonus,” says Daniel Liebhart, chairman of the aviation department in the vida trade union, with satisfaction.
“We have agreed with the company on a fair overall package under good economic conditions. We are particularly pleased that the package has enabled us to raise the starting salaries for cabin crew to a significantly higher level,” adds Liebhart. The second cabin pay scheme will be eliminated. This means that retrospectively as of January 1, 2023, the minimum gross salary for cabin crew will be increased to between EUR 2,000 (first year of service) and EUR 2,060 per month (third year of service), explains the vida trade unionist.
Employees are also to receive a tax-free inflation bonus for 2023. The details of this will be worked out by the negotiating partners in the next few days, Liebhart continued.
In addition, the savings package will be completely terminated retrospectively as of January 1st, 2023. The pension fund contributions will be paid in full retrospectively as of January 1, 2023. This also means that from May 1st, 2023, the costs for cleaning uniforms will be borne by the company once more. Free crew meals during long operations and bottled water in the hotel rooms should also be paid for once more as soon as possible.
“There is no longer any need for another works meeting. With this negotiation result, we have taken into account the most urgent needs of our flying colleagues at Austrian. Staff can now focus back on what they do best, which is flying satisfied passengers to and from their destinations,” Liebhart concludes.
