Kuwaiti health updates protocols to confront Corona

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health announced the latest protocols to confront the (Covid 19) epidemic with regard to the definition of the vaccinated, the description of the person in contact, the period of quarantine required for him and the injured, the duration of isolation, and the difference in that with the case’s position on immunization, provided that these protocols are implemented starting from yesterday, Tuesday.

The official spokesman for the ministry, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, said in a press statement that this comes within the framework of keeping pace with the latest international protocols followed, explaining that a person is considered a contact if he has been in contact with a person whose infection has been confirmed for 15 minutes or more without covering the mouth and nose and at a distance of less than two meters.

Al-Sanad added that the period of quarantine for contacts varies with the position on immunization. If the person is immunized, he is obligated to quarantine for a period of 14 days from the date of contact, with the possibility of ending the quarantine before that if a PCR examination is conducted from the seventh day, provided that the result is sound, while the non-vaccinated must be quarantined for a period 14 days from the date of contact. According to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

He stated that within the framework of updating the protocol followed for the period of isolation of the infected person, the period was reduced to seven days for the vaccinated and 10 days for the non-vaccinated from the date of the first smear that proved the infection, stressing the need to continue to cover the mouth and nose during and following the isolation period.

And he indicated that the immunized person is everyone who received the (third) booster dose of the (Covid 19) vaccine, or anyone who has passed a period not exceeding nine months from the date of receiving the second dose of the vaccine, or anyone who has been less than 28 days since the date of his confirmation of his infection. The date of the first swab that confirmed the infection, following the end of the isolation period.

He pointed out that whoever received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is considered immunized within a period of nine months from receiving the dose, and it is advised to take the booster dose two months following the vaccine dose in order to maintain the highest possible degree of effectiveness.

Al-Sanad stressed the need to avoid contact with others if a person feels respiratory symptoms such as a runny nose, sneezing, coughing, sore throat, feeling sick, headache or fever, taking care to take a sufficient amount of rest, drinking plenty of fluids, and taking antipyretic drugs when necessary. Consultation or medical assistance if symptoms persist or worsen.

He expressed his thanks to the health cadres and loyal national competencies in the specialized technical teams for following up and updating preventive protocols in accordance with the latest global health developments in order to preserve public health and the health of citizens and residents.
