Kuwaiti authorities gave good news to stranded migrants

Kuwait begins issuing work permits to stranded migrants.

Sources at the Public Authority for Manpower say work permits have begun to be issued to allow stranded foreign workers to return to Kuwait.

According to sources, the move to issue work permits is in line with the decision of the Cabinet Health Committee, which requires employers to send a list of required foreign workers to the Home Ministry for security clearance.

After obtaining security clearance from the Ministry, the sponsor must also submit an application to the Public Authority for Manpower for issuance of work permits to the stranded migrant workers.

The sponsors will then send these documents to the migrants in their home countries where they will complete other necessary procedures. It has been reported that this decision will end the 8-month suspension of flights at the Kuwait airport due to the corona virus crisis.

It should be noted that the government allowed the issuance of work permits for migrant workers, especially Egyptian and Syrian citizens, but this decision has been strongly criticized by former member of parliament Saleh Ashour.

He opined that the law passed recently to address the issue of demographic structure is against the law, warning that the government will soon face tough questions in this regard. .
