A Kuwaiti activist’s Twitter account, Walid Al-Mutairi, posted a video clip of him chanting “Freedom for Palestine” in front of an Israeli family at Dubai airport.
The clip spread widely on social media, and exceeded millions of views within three days.
The pioneers of social networking interacted between supporters of Al-Mutairi’s position, which is consistent with Kuwait’s position rejecting normalization, and opponents of him and his style, which they considered “terrorizing children,” as they described it.
What happened?
The clip published by Al-Mutairi does not exceed a minute, and a young woman with three children appears in it, and the man’s voice appears in the background without showing his face as he cheers for Palestine, and a picture of the tail of a plane with an Israeli flag is attached to the clip.
And the owner of the clip titled his tweet, saying: “I just wanted to help them, and I am returning from Dubai I endured to make them forget,” apparently intended to upset the members of the Israeli family pictured.

In his responses to the commentators on the video, the account owner stated that he finished his speech in the clip by saying, “Thank you” because he tried to suppress his laughter – as he described it – because of the family’s reaction following his anger in front of them.

On the other hand, the general view of the account shows its owner’s focus on blogging and talking regarding general political regional affairs, and Kuwaiti local affairs in particular, but the account owner does not appear in the main account image or other images, and the username also does not indicate his personal name. .
An Israeli response to the communication sites
Israeli journalist Eddie Cohen republished the clip, commenting on it, by asking the UAE authorities to investigate, and to prevent Al-Mutairi from entering the UAE once more. .

Variation in responses
Supporters of Al-Mutairi’s position saw in it “courage and telling the truth,” as they described it, and considered it “support for the Palestinian position” in the conflict with Israel.
The pioneers of social networking sites supporting what Al-Mutairi did cited some previous Kuwaiti positions that show its opposition to the Israelis.
