Kuwait City: A medical certificate stating that she is not pregnant is mandatory for women in the country when applying for a visa. The new decision is to grant entry visa to women who do not have a medical certificate stating that they are not pregnant.

A medical certificate of non-pregnancy must also be attested by the Kuwaiti Embassy and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the respective countries. Al Anba newspaper reported that domestic workers accompanying citizens of GCC countries, domestic workers accompanying diplomats, girls under 16, women over 50, and foreigners granted electronic (online) entry visas were exempted from this, Al Anba newspaper reported. The authorities concerned had submitted a request to the Assistant Under Secretary for Citizenship and Residence in the Ministry of Home Affairs to exempt certain categories from the requirements. The action is following this. Such persons need not produce medical certificate.

Currently, family and visit visas are not allowed in the country. Only employment and commercial visit visas are allowed. The new visa requirement for women will make it difficult for those who come to Kuwait for art and cultural events.
