Kuwait.. Minister of Interior explains the reason for his refusal to set up tents outside the Husseiniyas

Sheikh Fahad Yousef Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Minister of Interior, stressed “the application of the law to the great before the small,” emphasizing “the implementation of the vision of the Emir of the country, Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who is always keen to implement the law.”

He explained that he did not agree to set up the tents to prevent any accident that might occur or attempts to set fires by infiltrators, and that this step comes to protect the visitors of the Hussainiyas.

Sheikh Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah denied that these measures were directed once morest anyone or to prevent anyone from performing rituals, but rather it was an activation of the law, pointing out that everyone is free to practice their rituals according to the law.

In the context of the discussion regarding securing the Hussainiyas during the month of Muharram, the Kuwaiti Minister of Interior commented, saying: “We started our work and did not take any action that violates the law. Our Shiite brothers, we were born and raised with them and they are not strangers to Kuwait. Rather, they are the sons of Kuwait and not intruders. What is happening is organizational matters, nothing more and nothing less. I believe that the Shiite brothers are comfortable with these measures. As for one or two people speaking, this is not a problem.”

He stressed that “the entire Kuwaiti people, whether Shiites or Sunnis, have been coexisting with each other for years, not just recently.”

This came during the visit of Sheikh Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, accompanied by the Iraqi Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, to the Diwan of Bukhamseen, on the occasion of his official visit to the country.

It is worth noting that last Friday, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior issued a statement, instructing the owners of Hussainiyas, explaining that they must “adhere to the organizing laws and instructions of the security personnel to preserve everyone’s safety.”

She stressed that “any tents or kiosks placed outside the fence of the Hussainiyas will be removed,” noting that “the owners of the Hussainiyas must abide by the organizing laws and instructions of the security personnel to preserve everyone’s safety.”
