Kuwait Implements New Domestic Visa Law: Employers Can Cancel Residency for Workers Abroad for More Than Three Months

Kuwait City: Kuwait with a radical change in domestic visa law. The authorities have allowed employers to cancel the visas of domestic workers who have been out of the country for more than three months.

The Ministry of Interior has announced that Kuwaiti sponsors can cancel residency if domestic workers do not return within three months of leaving the country. This facility is provided through Sahel, the government’s unified app.

Officials informed that a domestic worker’s visa can be canceled by visiting the Residency Affairs offices. Local media reported that the new decision was made on the instructions of Sheikh Talal Al Khalid Al Ahmed Al Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

The new law will come into effect from November 5. At the same time, the authorities clarified that all visa holders who have been outside the country for more than six months will automatically cancel their residency if they do not re-enter the country.
