KUWAIT CITY > The total debt, fines and service fees owed by expatriates in Kuwait is about 50 crore dinars, a local newspaper reports. The country owes about 300 crore dinars as bad debts in fines related to various ministries from those who died, those who were smuggled out of the country and those who did not return. According to the proposal of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Talal Al-Khalid, it was decided to end the bad debt crisis through an integrated system by coordinating at the government level. After discussions with various authorities, it was decided to link up the concerned government agencies to collect dues to be paid by expatriates. Currently, the number of government agencies that have decided to collect dues from expatriates who are leaving the country has increased to four. This decree has been implemented by Home Affairs, Hydropower, Telecommunication and Justice. In recent days, this will also be applied to collect fines related to government agencies like Ministry of Health, Municipality, Ministry of Commerce, Environmental Protection Committee, etc. The respective ministries have started special counters at the insurance terminal to settle the fines related to various ministries before traveling out of the country. Apart from this, the facility of payment of fine arrears has also been introduced through the ministries’ websites, offices and Sahal app. Read on deshabhimani.com
