Kuwait City | About 38,000 dinars were collected as fines from Gulf vehicles leaving the country through the border gates during the last two weeks. This was announced by the Director General of the Department of Transport, Yusuf Al Khadda. Two weeks ago, a decision was made to not allow foreign vehicles violating traffic laws in Kuwait to leave the country without paying a fine.
After this, it was possible to collect such amount as fine. Earlier, there was no mechanism to levy fines on vehicles in foreign countries for violating traffic rules. Major General Yusuf Al Khadda said that the treasury has lost hundreds of thousands of dinars.
He added that special centers have been set up at all border gates to pay fines for traffic violations by foreign vehicles.
