Early voting in the municipal building has ended, the Central Election Commission announced on Thursday evening.

On Friday and Saturday, members of the election commissions will go to the residents of the municipality of Kupiškis district who have the right to vote at home. They will visit more than a thousand voters in two days.

Žilvinas Aukštikalnis nominated by the Liberal Movement, Eglė Blaževičienė nominated by the Union of Lithuanian Peasants and Greens, Edmundas Jonutis, candidate of the Party of Regions of Lithuania, Vytautas Mockus nominated by the Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats, Algirdas Raslanas, representative of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party, are competing for the post of mayor of Kupiškis district municipality.

New elections are being held in Kupiški after Dainiai Bardauskas, the former conservative mayor, was found guilty of bribery, influence peddling, and incitement to falsify a document. He is banned from holding managerial positions.

On Wednesday-Friday, the voting process will also be organized at special points: health care and social care institutions located in the territory of the municipality of Kupiškis district, places of execution of sentences, etc.

Friday-Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The members of the election commissions will conduct the voting in the voter’s house. The right to vote at home can be exercised by the disabled, persons caring for or caring for the disabled at home, people temporarily unable to work due to illness, and voters aged 70 and older.

Sunday is the main day of early elections for the mayor of the Kupiškis district municipality, when voting will be held not in the municipal building, but in your own polling stations from 7:00 a.m. until 8 p.m.

The CEC reminds you that you only need to take your identity document with you when you go to vote.
