Kuleba in Munich called for the creation of a common space for the defense industries of the EU and NATO

During a speech at a panel discussion at the Munich Security Conference, Dmytro Kuleba called on international partners to create a program for the joint production of weapons.

As reported by Ukrinform, it is reported press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Dmytro Kuleba emphasized that there are two problems with the supply of ammunition. The first is quantity and stability of supply, and the second is that not all shells are suitable for all howitzers.

“When a decision is made to supply Ukraine with a certain amount of ammunition, for example 155 caliber, we are extremely grateful to our partners for this. But the fact is that all these 155 mm howitzers and guns were designed for specific types of projectiles of this caliber that were produced in a specific country. And you can’t use the same projectile with all 155 mm guns,” he noted.

The minister said that howitzers break down and getting parts from another country sometimes takes months due to administrative, technical and logistical issues.

Kuleba called on international partners to invest more in the joint production of weapons.

“I call on the EU and NATO countries to launch a program aimed at creating a common market, a common space for the defense industry. None of the national defense industries in Europe can cope with the current challenge alone,” he emphasized.

The head of the Foreign Ministry noted that Europe has the best experience in the world in the multinational production of a world-class product, Airbus aircraft.

“Hundreds of companies are engaged in the production of the Airbus aircraft line. These companies represent different countries, but ultimately they all create one product that can be used anywhere in the world. You should do the same with the arms manufacturing industry that you use,” Dmytro Kuleba said.

He called on the partners to work together to achieve the fastest victory.

“In 1944, the Anti-Hitler coalition included 44 countries. In 2024, the coalition in the Rammstein format consists of 54 countries. We are much stronger together. We will win. For this, the political will must be transformed into concrete actions,” the minister concluded.

As reported by Ukrinform, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi discussed ways to restore a just and lasting peace in Ukraine during a bilateral meeting.
