HSV had rejected Klaus-Michael Kühne’s €120 million offer. The patron has now followed suit and explained in another press release: “HSV Fußball AG and Hamburger Sport-Verein eV have agreed to talks with Kühne Holding AG, whose offer to stabilize professional football will not be accepted in the present form might. The Kühne Holding AG is looking forward to the talks with the key representatives of the AG and the eV”
His offer is not regarding “influencing the fortunes of HSV Fußball AG or even ‘exercising power’.” It would only be regarding financial support through “a substantial capital increase” that “appears necessary”. Regarding the possible acquisition of new HSV shares, the billionaire writes: “Kuehne Holding AG is not aiming to acquire all or a large part of the newly issued shares, but is very interested in third-party participation. However, it is prepared to guarantee the entire capital increase and to transfer all or part of the acquired shares to third parties at a later date.”
Kühne doesn’t think much of the new borrowing planned by CFO Thomas Wüstefeld to cover the costs of the stadium renovation: “Kuehne Holding AG advises once morest taking out further outside capital (loans) through HSV Fußball AG, as this will further increase the debt and make it difficult to achieve financial stability in still more distant.”
Certainly also with a view to Wüstefeld, Kühne closes his new message with point 6: “Kühne Holding AG considers it important that more commercial expertise and a high level of sporting competence are represented on the Supervisory Board and Executive Board of HSV Fußball AG.”
