KTO special programming — KTOTV

Special programming on KTO

KTO disrupts its programming. The channel broadcasts live all the major celebrations that will mark the funeral of Benedict XVI in Rome, to allow the faithful of the 88 French-speaking countries where KTO is broadcast, to experience this moment in communion of prayer.

Live celebrations

The times of the broadcasts are published on this site as announcements are made by the Holy See. The situation is new for the Catholic Church, as there has been no funeral of a pope emeritus since the last renunciation of a pope, Gregory XII, in 1417. The missal in force for the funeral of a Roman pontiff indeed details the different funeral stages of a pope who died while carrying his load. They must therefore necessarily be adapted for Benedict XVI.

With exclusive interviews with Benedict XVI’s traveling companions, as well as reports from Bavaria and even the heart of the Vatican, you will be able to relive these particularly intense days.

Images and key speeches from the pontificate of Benedict XVI

Since the announcement of the death of Benedict XVI, KTO has been broadcasting on its antenna the strong images that have marked his pontificate, from his first appearance in the loggia of Saint Peter’s Basilica at the end of the conclave in April 2005 until his last interventions in Saint Peter’s Square before his effective renunciation in February 2013. It is also an opportunity to review and listen to the great speeches of Benedict XVI, in particular those he delivered during his apostolic journey in France, from September 12 to 15, 2008, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary in Lourdes.

Special editions and documentary films

The broadcast of documentary films and several special programs allow us to measure the legacy that Benedict XVI leaves to the Church and to the world.

From Lauds to Vespers, without forgetting the broadcasts of the usual masses at Notre-Dame de la Garde, Lourdes and Paris, the daily prayer appointments remain on KTO, to entrust Benedict XVI to the Lord and live these days in communion in the faith.
