KTM takes over majority stake in Italian MV Agusta

The Pierer Mobility subsidiary KTM has taken over the majority of the Italian motorcycle manufacturer Agusta. 25.1 percent of the Italian luxury brand had already been purchased in autumn 2022. It was announced on Friday that an option to acquire an additional 25 percent had been exercised early (original plan: spring 2026). The products are to be sold via the global Pierer network.

KTM took over the supply chain and purchasing from MV Agusta last year.

Location expansion planned

KTM is now taking over complete industrial management and is planning to expand the site. In the medium term, the company says it plans to produce more than 10,000 MV Agusta motorcycles annually at the Varese site.

Pierer remained tight-lipped regarding the purchase price for the additional 25 percent. This was “calculated in accordance with the previously agreed valuation method (EBITDA multiple)”. Hubert Trunkenpolz, board member of Pierer Mobility, will take over the role of CEO of MV Agusta.
