Kremlin: – I don’t think the assassination was organized by the current authorities

The Kremlin said on Sunday that it believed that the current US administration was not responsible for Saturday’s assassination of US presidential candidate Donald Trump, but that it had created an atmosphere that provoked the attack.

– We do not believe that the assassination was organized by the current authorities, spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

– But the atmosphere around Donald Trump as presidential candidate is helping to provoke what the United States is facing today, he adds.

Earlier on Sunday, Russia urged the United States to scrutinize policies that incite hatred.

Spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, wants the US to spend money on investigating policies that incite hatred rather than supporting Ukraine.

She is also critical of the US’s arms aid to Kyiv.

– Perhaps it would be better to use this money to finance the American police and other services, which are supposed to ensure law and order in the USA, Zakharova believes.

Donald Trump was hit in the ear when he was shot while standing on the podium at an election event Saturday in the swing state of Pennsylvania.

It is the first shooting of a US president or candidate for a major party since the assassination attempt on Republican President Ronald Reagan in 1981.
