Bulgarian marathon runner Kras Georgiev has started living in a glass box in a park in the capital, Sofia, to raise money to help young people fight addiction in all its forms.
A motivational speaker and philanthropic ambassador, Georgiev has run nearly 30 ultra-marathons around the world.
“I want to challenge myself,” said the runner, who will lock himself up for 15 days. “I want to show how a person’s psychological state changes when he is put in a box.”
The money raised will be spent on various projects to prevent addiction among those under the age of 18, including addiction to drugs, alcohol, social media and energy drinks. A glass box with three glass walls was placed on a plinth in front of the National Palace of Culture in Sofia. Georgiev has a bed and a treadmill, and will not be able to use any books, computer or phone, while he will be able to speak to the public for only 30 minutes a day.
