THE Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is increasingly suspecting the involvement of Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi in a bribery case related to the procurement and maintenance of railway lines. Recently, KPK investigators questioned PDIP Deputy Secretary General Yosep Aryo Adhie in connection with the case.
Yosep Aryo Adhie said that KPK investigators asked for information regarding a photo showing him with Budi Karya Sumadi.
“The examination was called regarding a photo of me with Mr. Budi Karya Sumadi,” said Adhie in a written statement quoted on Monday (22/7).
Adhie explained that the photo was taken during the formation of the Jokowi-Ma’ruf aspiration house. According to him, the operation of the aspiration house was managed by Budi Karya Sumadi.
“The establishment of the aspiration house at the beginning was in accordance with Erick Thohir’s direction as the head of the winning team that the operation of the aspiration house was handled by Mr. Budi Karya Sumadi,” said Adhie.
KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto was reluctant to provide details of the investigation material because it must be kept confidential at this time. However, she confirmed that investigators were questioning Adhie in connection with the bribery case of the procurement and maintenance of the railway line.
