The Corruption Eradication Commission will respect the investigation carried out by Polda Metro Jaya regarding the meeting between KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata and former Head of Yogyakarta Customs and Excise Eko Darmanto.
“The KPK respects the investigation process being handled by Polda Metro Jaya and is confident that investigators will act professionally and procedurally in accordance with applicable legal regulations,” said KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika when confirmed in Jakarta, today.
Tessa also said that the Corruption Eradication Committee is ready to assist with the ongoing investigation process and will always be cooperative with the police. “The Corruption Eradication Commission will cooperate with investigators to help convey the facts of what happened,” he said.
Polda Metro Jaya has received a public complaint dated March 23 2024 regarding reports or complaints of alleged criminal acts in the form of direct or indirect relations regarding the meeting between KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata and former Head of Yogyakarta Customs and Excise Eko Darmanto.
“What was done by the KPK leadership (Alexander Marwata) with suspects or other parties who were related to corruption cases handled by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), in this case the former Head of Yogyakarta Customs and Excise, Eko Darmanto, who is now a KPK convict,” Director of Special Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya, Police Commissioner Ade Safri Simanjuntak when confirmed, Friday (27/9).
Ade Safri also said that from the public reports we received, a series of efforts had been made to follow up on the complaints in question.

“That is carrying out verification, making complaints reviews, collecting information and making information reports (LI),” he said.
Then, on the basis of this LI, an Investigation Order and Task Order (Springas) were issued on April 5 2024 and this was updated/extended on September 9 2024.
Eko Darmanto is the former Head of the Yogyakarta Customs and Excise Office, Eko Darmanto, who was officially detained by KPK investigators as a suspect in a case of alleged receipt of gratuities and money laundering (TPPU) on Friday (8/12).
Eko Darmanto (ED) is suspected of having received gratuities amounting to IDR 18 billion by taking advantage of his position at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Ministry of Finance. (Ant/P-2)
