The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is investigating the role of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) in the alleged corruption case of personal protective equipment (PPE) procurement at the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes). The investigation was conducted because the project used BNPB’s ready funds.
“We are currently investigating this because the user is from BNPB,” said KPK Investigation Director Asep Guntur Rahayu in Jakarta, Saturday (6/7).
The case is known to have cost the state up to Rp300 billion. The KPK has named three suspects in this case. However, their identities are still being kept secret until the arrest is made.
In its development, the KPK banned three people from leaving the country for six months. They have the initials SLN and two private parties with the initials ET and AM.
The alleged corruption in the procurement of PPE for COVID-19 at the Ministry of Health occurred in the 2020-2022 budget year. The project value reached IDR 3.03 trillion. This case is related to abuse of authority. The KPK confirmed that there was a state loss of hundreds of billions of rupiah that occurred.
The KPK has named suspects involved in this case. Their identities were only revealed to the public when the arrests were made. (Z-11)
