The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is investigating the cutting of money in several departments in the Meranti Islands Regency Government (Pemkab). Nine witnesses were asked to explain the information.
“(We are investigating) the deductions of UP or GU (replacement money or replacement money) from each OPD (regional apparatus organization) or service in the Meranti Regency Government by suspect FN (former Head of the Meranti Islands BPKAD Fitria Nengsih),” said KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto in a written statement today.
Tessa only wanted to detail the initials of the nine witnesses, namely TP, S, HJ, H, HY, FIP, S, SA, and T. Their statements were linked to the money laundering case that ensnared Fitria and the Regent of the Meranti Islands, Muhammad Adil.
“The examination was carried out at the Riau Regional Police Office,” said Tessa.
Tessa was reluctant to detail the replacement money or replacement money that Fitria deducted from each office in the Meranti Regency Government. The witnesses were also asked to explain the receipt of gratuities by Adil.
“We are investigating their roles and knowledge related to the acceptance of gratuities and money laundering carried out by the suspect Regent MA (Muhammad Adil),” said Tessa.

Tessa also refused to detail the total gratification of Adil that investigators investigated. Detailed information will only be revealed in court, later.
Previously, the KPK believed the value of assets related to Adil’s money laundering reached tens of billions. Most of them are in the form of land and buildings, however, they have not been confiscated.
Adil had dealings with the KPK in a bribery case. The Anti-Corruption Agency conducted a sting operation (OTT) in the Meranti Islands on Thursday, April 6, 2023, evening.
Adil was sentenced to nine years in prison for the case. The panel also asked him to pay a fine of Rp600 million and a substitute sentence of Rp17.8 billion. (Can/P-2)
