The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) responded to the statement by PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto who said he was intimidated and dragged into the fugitive Harun Masiku case because he questioned the implementation of the 2024 elections. Anti-corruption institutions asked him not to act as a victim in handling the case.
“We hope that we don’t build opinions as if we are victims, even though in this case, from the results of the investigation to the court decision, it is clear, there is absolutely no such fact (intimidation),” said KPK spokesman for prosecution Ali Fikri in a written statement, Monday ( 8/4).
The Head of the Corruption Eradication Commission’s News Department said that Hasto might report to law enforcement if he received intimidation regarding Harun’s case. Moreover, his background is not an ordinary person.
“If you feel intimidated by anyone, please report it to law enforcement,” said Ali.
The KPK regrets Hasto’s statement. The PDIP Secretary General was advised to announce Harun’s whereregardings rather than giving statements that were inconsistent with legal facts.
“We hope that if the person concerned (Hasto) can inform us regarding Harun Masiku’s current whereregardings so that we can arrest him and if found, we will immediately take him to the judicial process so that there is legal certainty,” said Ali.

Former General Election Commission (KPU) Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan questioned why the KPK had not yet arrested Harun. In fact, the former KPU commissioner has been tried, and is now granted conditional freedom.
“I also question why the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) did not immediately arrest Harun Masiku. “The KPK can arrest me, why can’t Harun Masiku be arrested?” said Wahyu at the KPK’s Red and White Building, South Jakarta, Thursday, December 28 2023.
It is known that the KPK searched Wahyu’s house to investigate Harun’s case some time ago. The former KPU commissioner claimed that investigators had found no evidence.
Wahyu only served three years in prison if referring to the time of his arrest by the KPK in January 2020. In fact, his prison sentence was based on the cassation decision, namely seven years in prison. (Z-11)
