THE number of applicants for leadership candidates (capim) and the Supervisory Board (Dewas) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is considered to have dropped drastically on D-1 of the registration closing. The number of applicants for capim is 160 people and Dewas is 121 people recorded as of Sunday, July 14, 2024, at 11:18 WIB.

“That’s right, it has decreased drastically,” said the Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin Saiman when contacted in Jakarta, Sunday (14/7).

Boyamin compared it with the previous period of KPK capim applicants. In 2019 alone, he continued, applicants reached 376 people.

“In 2015, there were 400 registrants. So now it’s still far behind,” said Boyamin.

He also considered that the selection committee (pansel) for KPK capim and Dewas were not independent. Moreover, there was no effort from the pansel to go to the figures who were considered worthy to take part in the selection.

“Also failed to take the initiative. The selection committee also did not dare to announce the applicants, meaning the selection committee was not confident,” said Boyamin.

Meanwhile, the Head of the KPK Capim and Dewas Selection Committee, Muhammad Yusuf Ateh, denied that his party did not take the initiative. According to him, the step had been taken.

“That has been done from the start, standard procedure,” said Yusuf when confirmed. (Z-8)
