At 3:00 am Malaysian time, five Indonesian migrant workers were shot by officers from the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) at Tanjung Rhu waters. Sadly, one worker lost their life, and another is in critical condition. Three more are hospitalized in Selangor. This event has deeply saddened and angered us, both from a humanitarian standpoint and for the blatant disregard for human life it represents.”

A shocking incident has cast a dark shadow over the well-being of Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia. On January 24, 2025, at 3:00 am Malaysian time, five Indonesian workers were shot by officers from the malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM)
The incident, which occurred at the Tanjung Rhu waters, resulted in one fatality and left another worker in critical condition. three others are currently receiving treatment in several Selangor hospitals.
“The Ministry of Protection of Indonesian migrant Workers urges the Malaysian government to immediately investigate this incident and take firm action against APMM patrol officers if they are proven to have committed acts involving excessive use of force,” stated Deputy Minister of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers Christina aryani during a press conference.
The ministry has expressed its profound condemnation of the alleged excessive force used by the APMM, reaffirming their commitment to ensuring that the injured victims receive adequate medical care and support for their families.
