Linz Mayor Klaus Luger faces an uncertain future in office despite the support of his party. According to an exclusive report by the OÖN, Luger admitted on Wednesday that he had sent the questions for the casting hearing to the now-deposed director of the Linz Brucknerhaus, Dietmar Kerschbaum, in advance.
OÖN domestic politics editor Christoph Kotanko spoke on ZIB 2 about Luger’s defense strategy, among other things: It was “extremely unfortunate and an impertinence towards the public.” Kotanko emphasized that he had rarely experienced anything like this in his 40-year journalistic career.

Vote of no confidence
Although the party still supports Luger, his future as mayor is uncertain. Since there is no clear successor, it will probably take some time before a decision is made. The opposition parties are currently unable to obtain the necessary two-thirds of the mandates for a vote of no confidence.
The situation puts SPÖ party leader Andreas Babler in a difficult position, especially in view of the upcoming ORF summer interview and the SPÖ’s election campaign launch, which is taking place at the Ars Electronica Center in Linz.
